Hey Ya’ll!

Hey Ya’ll! How in the world have you been?

Me? Oh, I’m great and getting better every day. I’ve been working on a little project since, oh, about February-ish. It has been a biggie and required that I put down several things I enjoyed doing. And The Civilized Minute was one of those things. But, like most of life’s unexpected challenges, the hard work, long hours, mounds of frustration and, now, bigger mounds of joy have been worth the effort.

This project, you see, turned out to be more than I bargained for. Problems and unexpected curves were everywhere and I can truly say it’s been one of the more difficult things I’ve ever undertaken. All along the way, I was reminded of various posts I had published on The Civilized Minute and would think they were actually foreshadows of upcoming challenges for myself. Even little things, like how you present yourself during a meeting, came back to haunt me. I will forever remember someone’s comment to me about 10 weeks into very little sleep and bags of M&M’s for sustenance when a lady walked into the room and said, “Gosh, Kate, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you sit in a chair like that.”

Now, all these months later, I’m back to sitting erect in my chair – on most days – , our house is getting ready for a new school year, The Hubs is officially tired of drive-thru food, most everything in my spice cabinet has expired, and I have lots to share about civility in good times and in bad. My son still believes his existence is to perfect the art of practical jokes, my daughter continues to out-mature me, my work hours are down to about 10 each day and you may or may not care about any of this. So, I’ll just throw a few words out here when something occurs to me I think you may be interested in and, if you learn a bit about your impact on others or their impact on you, I’ll just be glad you dropped by.

Kinda feels like a jumping off point. I guess I’m kind of excited, to tell you the truth. I’m even a little bowed up. I might even strut some time today. Like the chickens! Oh, I can’t wait to tell you about our chickens and how we thought they would die, but they didn’t…..
