Crimson and Clover

I had 2 interesting and opposite experiences recently. One at Target and the other at a boutique called Crimson and Clover.

Target: To be completely honest, I went there for blog material. On Tuesday, Target released the new Missoni line of products. I had seen the advertisements and the previews online and thought these clothes might be just what my readers would like to see. I wanted to create a post to show how a Mom could use the different Missoni pieces to help her feel put together and stylish from the park to the dentist office. Don’t we all want to be the Mama that feels put together and stylish? Watch out, World, when a Mama is feeling good! But, when I got there….there was nothing. The products were all gone. Well, that’s not true. There was a laptop cover. Oh, and an umbrella. This was on Wednesday.

Ok, so I’ll just take a different route, right? I called Target’s corporate media number and had to leave a message. Got a call back the next day…pretty prompt for such a large company. I was impressed. Particularly since my blog is oh-so-small-time. However, the nice lady who called explained that the release of these items was a one-time thing and the items wouldn’t be restocked. It all seemed very runway/bespoke/one-of-a-kind-ish.

Really? At Target? I thought accessibility to be a key ingredient given the store is the size of a tobacco warehouse.

Crimson and Clover: Located in the little town of Cordele, Georgia, I’d heard about their unique and colorful store design…and the fantastic clothes…so, I called ahead and asked if I could bring my camera, snap a few pics and blog about the shop. “Sure!” said Anna Hurt, one of the owners.

The shop is in a building that was originally a car showroom. The tile floor is original and made me drool. The huge front windows light the space making it cheery and actually highlights the fabrics and colors of their merchandise.

As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile and an introduction.  And a lovely fragrance, I might add. And eye candy! In a word, the store is fabulous! Their merchandising is creative, the products current and appealing and the experience a true delight.

I dearly love this cape and the Cook’s Journal! I think I would wear the cape while I wrote in the journal…

and this is exactly my point. Crimson and Clover made it easy for me to imagine wearing and using their products. They put style in front of me. Ahem, Target?
Most people believe you have to go to big stores in big cities to see the latest trends or find an unusual product. My experience has shown that it’s actually the little guys who can deliver. They know their customers and work to ensure they can provide a top notch experience.
I know I’ll be back to Crimson and Clover. Over and over.
